How to use this template

Fill it in quickly, then ship one week of work that matches it. If your week does not match your strategy, the strategy is not real.

Keep the language concrete. Replace words like “awareness” with a measurable output like “10 demos booked” or “50 signups”.

Common mistakes

  • • Strategy is a list of tactics, not choices.
  • • No clear ICP, so every message is generic.
  • • Too many channels, not enough weekly output.
  • • Metrics are lagging only, so you cannot steer weekly.
  • • No guardrails, so spend and effort drift.

FAQ

What is a marketing strategy (in plain English)?

A marketing strategy is the set of choices you make so your team is consistent: who you target, what you promise, how you reach them, and how you measure if it works.

How long should a marketing strategy be?

For a small SaaS team, one page is enough. If it takes more than 30–60 minutes to explain, it is usually too complex to execute.

How often should I update it?

Review monthly. Update it when you learn a new constraint (sales cycle, channel limits, ACV, churn) or when one channel clearly outperforms others.

Is this a go-to-market plan?

It can be a part of it. This template is focused on marketing choices and execution, not full pricing, packaging, or sales motions.
